Port of Brisbane is an economic powerhouse for Queensland. Thanks this new international cruise terminal, the port can now cater for larger cruise ships and international travel. The new, world-class $177 million International Cruise Terminal in Brisbane is due to open later in 2020, and around 180 cruise ships are scheduled to call during its first season in 2020/21.
The new cruise terminal has been designed to cater for the biggest cruise ships in the world and give passengers a world-class experience. Becoming a gateway to the richness of our region, helping to showcase all that south-east Queensland has to offer. The port will also become a vital pillar in the tourism economy of Brisbane and will provide a massive boost for tourism in southern Queensland.
It is also estimated that within 20 years it would have tippled Brisbane’s tourism economy to:
- support 3,750 jobs
- bring over 760,000 visitors annually
- contribute $1.3 billion in net expenditure into the Brisbane economy
